Some evenings feature a formal birth-related topic to discuss, and other months offer an open-forum style. If you are considering home birth or want to connect to families and birth professionals involved in the homebirth community, this birth group is a great place to start.

ICAN of Greater Cleveland
Meets on the third Wednesday of each month from 7:00 – 8:30pm at the North Royalton branch of the Cuyahoga County Public Library.
Sunday Tortelli, a childbirth educator, doula, and doula trainer, and Pam Kolanz, a homebirth midwife facilitate monthly meetings for the greater Cleveland chapter of the International Cesarean Awareness Network (ICAN). ICAN provides information and support to women planning for a vaginal birth and wishing to avoid unnecessary cesareans – whether they are healing from cesarean surgery, planning a vaginal birth after cesarean (VBAC) or preparing for their first birth experience. ICAN of greater Cleveland has been offering monthly meetings and consumer outreach since 1984! They advocate for women’s rights in childbirth and for babies’ rights to healthy birth experiences, while providing the best evidence on safe maternity care practices. If you are looking for more information about the benefits of vaginal birth, or want to avoid a c-section, this group can provide you with valuable resources and information.
Positive Birth Movement – Cleveland Chapter
Meets on the third Wednesday of each month at 7:00pm at Our Other Living Room, 7405 Detroit Avenue, Cleveland.
Susan Greene, a Certified Nurse Midwife facilitates monthly meetings for the Cleveland chapter of Positive Birth Movement. This group is a place for all pregnant women to come together and share experiences, thoughts, feelings, and insight about childbirth. In Positive Birth Movement groups, women listen to each other, rather than to a teacher. There is usually a theme for discussion, and it is up to the group to talk, share, and learn from each other. This group offers a warm and welcoming place to hear stories and ideas, to consider what you really want from your childbirth experience, and to challenge any fears or negative expectations you might have. This group is a fantastic resource for women looking to engage in collaborative discussion about childbirth.
Home Birth Option of Cleveland Birth Group

Kim French, a Certified Professional Midwife, facilitates monthly meetings for Home Birth Option of Cleveland. Founded in 1988, the Home Birth Option of Cleveland is an advocacy group whose purpose is to support, encourage, and educate women and their families about gentle birth alternatives. This group is devoted to helping women achieve the optimal experience of a safe, empowering birth. If you are interested in learning more about natural birthing options, especially at home, this group is a wonderful resource.
