About Us

Alayna Spratley

I became passionate about holistic pregnancy, birth, and parenting while expecting my first child. Through research, it was clear that being educated, prepared, and supported helped me have a calm pregnancy, smooth birth, and gentle postpartum period. After having my second baby, I became increasingly active in the natural birthing community, and felt called to serve mothers. I trained as a postpartum doula, placenta specialist, and Birth Boot Camp childbirth educator so I could better support, nurture, and educate fellow women.

Welcoming a baby is such a transformative experience, but it is not always easy. As a placenta arts specialist, I strive to help mothers have their best postpartum experience. Your baby’s placenta is an amazing organ full of restorative properties. After my births, I chose placenta encapsulation for its strong healing properties. I am so passionate about the positive effects placentophagy bestows on postpartum wellness, that I am compelled to share this gift with you.

As a postpartum doula, I offer emotional nourishment, practical assistance, and evidenced-based information for the entire family. I honor your wishes for the postpartum period while helping mother and baby heal, rest, and bond. I want everyone to feel included, confident, and cared for while establishing a new rhythm with baby.

I also love being a childbirth educator and teaching the Birth Boot Camp curriculum. It is so wonderful to help families prepare for an amazing and transformative birth experience.

In addition to my work with The Nurturing Root, I am honored to serve as the volunteer Assistant Director with Babies Need Boxes Ohio. Babies Need Boxes is a non-profit organization that provides a safe-sleep environment, perinatal education, newborn essentials, and community and breastfeeding resources to expectant and new mothers, in order to facilitate positive parenting decisions and healthy child development.

I am also the founder of Cleveland Birth Village, an inclusive community for expectant and new families to learn about various holistic pregnancy, birth, and parenting topics. I facilitate FREE monthly gatherings for Cleveland Birth Village on the second Wednesday of each month, at Fairmount Presbyterian Church, in Cleveland Heights.

The Nurturing Root has been helping mothers experience their best postpartum since 2011. Please contact us about placenta encapsulation services, childbirth education courses, and postpartum doula support, today.

It is an absolute honor to serve your family!
